if you sell used clothes would you think things would sell better if the picture shown some one wearing it? i am selling some clothes i dont fit into anymore but might have some pic's of me wearing it from the past. the problem is that it would just be casual photos not modeling and i dont want my face shown and get some creepy stalkers.. but some clothes just dont look good on a hanger..
what would you do? what appeals most? im thinking on some if i can find decent pics i could crop my head out of it and put it along with the hanger pics. what do you think?

I'm selling stuff online...and I think its more attractive to buyers if you wear the clothes. I understand the whole stalker thing...some other online sellers, what they do is that, they don't show their head. Just the body and basically the clothes. Hope that helps out..goodluck on your business. happy [donsky14]
i think that might be what i do (cut head off) [moonlitmagikchild]
Too bad you don't have one of those dress forms....Like I got at a rummage sale. That would solve all your problems as it would show the clothes and how they fit without you having to expose yourself....I totally understand too about not showing your face! You never know about anyone you meet online! [jillhill]
i know but i always see them sold in stores where they are new and expensive!! [moonlitmagikchild]
I do see some people do that, as in the image of the clothes with the face not shown. If you were to take a snap of the clothes using the hanger, unless they are sportswear else it does look less attractive as compared to someone wearing. If not, you could get someone who could fit in the clothes to help you with the pictures. [warvial]
i dont know anyone that would fit into them =( some times a piece of clothing looks like crap till you see it on some one then its like ok cool.. sigh.. a hanger just looks crappy a lot of the time [moonlitmagikchild]
I think the trick here is that if you, or somebody else, could model the clothes that you are trying to sell online, then it would be best if you can do that. Personally, I do quite a lot of online shopping and I prefer to see someone wear it so I could get an idea of how a dress would actually look like when worn. But if you can't find someone or you won't fit into the dress you are selling, using a mannequin to model them would make a great alternative. I am usually not attracted when some online shops post photos of the clothes they are selling on a hanger. It just does not do the dress justice. But i think you can do that with blouses, but not with hangers though. Hope it helps. [abbypringles]
I suggest that if you intend to invest on your online shop as a business and legitimate income source, then a mannequin would make a great investment. it is more enticing to see a mannequin wear the dress, and i personally believe in this, because it also has the same effect when i am shopping on the mall. and with online shops, it creates a much bigger impact since that is the buyer's only determiner on whether to buy the item or not. hope it helps [abbypringles]
I think it looks better to model the clothes. Some clothes just don't look right if they are just on a hanger or laying there. I like to see what they look like on a body. [Ruthep]
thats what i think too.. [moonlitmagikchild]
I have a suggestion for you. This might be of great help to you. Check out the social networking site of Multiply and you will see sample websites of online sellers selling clothes and apparels. I am observing them for a very long time now, and I noticed they are experiencing success in "buying and selling online". Try check them out and see how they are doing their things... [magtibaygom]
will do! thanks! [moonlitmagikchild]
it is better if the clothes you sell will be wearing by you or other people. if you don't want to model it, then you can ask your girl friends and relatives who loves pictures taking to wear it for you. It's better than just take a picture of the stuffs you sell. [chikahdorah]
im the only one that might fit into them so it would end up being me most likely if i can even fit into it! [moonlitmagikchild]
What i think is exactly opposite. If u were living where i am u would have lots of people around you who really needs clothes to wear. now what i would have done is given these clothes (or any thing which i dont use) to these people who would feel on top of the world after getting them. No heart feelings but this is what i think. :) [jayeshrevised]
if i was rich i would but in the last month or so i have had several thousand dollars worth of medical bills come in so i need the money to help pay for them [moonlitmagikchild]
I just advise laying the clothes that are for sale out on a bed and taking a picture. I personally would not want to buy used clothes that other people are pictured wearing. [washingtonmark]
ive heard several people say the same thing! that it makes more emphasis on the used than the item if seen worn [moonlitmagikchild]
I've sold used clothes and hung them on a hanger and photographed them. Clothes look different on different people so it could be misleading [Nero11]
thats true too.. especially since my both is thin and boyish/athletic so i dont have as many curves as normal people do so it may actually look worse on me than them lol [moonlitmagikchild]
I think that you should crop the photos so your face won't be shown there. It's also better to examine a piece of clothing if someone is wearing it. But you should also add some pictures of piece of clothing when it's not being worn, so people could examine the things you sell deeply. That's my suggestion. [Biomechanoid]
What I always do is spread them out on the ground, obviously with me not wearing them, and take a picture that way. They don't always look all that attractive, but most of the clothes I end up selling on eBay don't really fit me anymore or don't look all that good on me! And also, I find it a little weird... to include myself in any pictures I put up. It makes it all a little too personal if you ask me. [maezee]
yeah i think it makes it too personal and maybe unprofessional since like you most of mine do not fit so i would prob have to pick out past casual pics would would look crappy except maybe the wedding and homecoming ones.. still feels weird [moonlitmagikchild]
Wear a mask. I do prefer clothes worn by people. He or she is no need to be a model but ordinary people is ok. The point is to show the clothes in a real condition. And the seller should be honest. [lbbaby]
im always honest with my selling.. heck i note every little thing and will even take a pic if there is a worn edge on a book and make note for people to look since the last thing i want is a surprised customer [moonlitmagikchild]
