Do You Work From Home

I'm 22 years old and I have no idea what kind of career I want to have. I know I'm still very young and don't need to find a career right away. But at the same time, I feel like I should at least be in school or moving towards something. Ideally I'd like to have a career where I work from home. I am very self-motivated and can sit down and get a lot of work done. I really work best on my own time. I know that medical transcription is a great career for working at home, and I've looked into it. I'm not yet fully sure if that's what I'd like to do, but it is an option. So I'm wondering, do you work from home? Do you know someone who does? Do you know of any legitimate careers that are great for working at home? If you do work from home, what do you do? How did you get started in your career? Any advice or information would be very helpful!

Yes. I work from home. Alot of legitimate at home jobs are independent contract positions. Which just means you are responsible for taking the taxes out of your own check. I found my job at a free site. Never PAY to work from home!! try this site. You might find it useful. www.genuinejobs.com [ersmommy1]
I still have to dig a bit depper on that site. I am looking for something part time or with a free timetable that I can do when I am free from my usual job... may there if they offer places for people all over the world. [overwings]

i'm moving towards wokring from home. i use guru and chacha as well as MANY survey sites and ptcs/gpts. i joined Mia Bella as a distributor and have made my christmas shopping money and more.. i think chacha are great and pay! i got my first payment from them last month. on guru its hard to get started, because everyone wants the experienced VA' and not many are willing to give you a shot. whatever you do, dont pay for the 'advice' or work at home opportunities. they should always pay you! LOL--I'm 53 and I still am not sure what I want to be when I grow up...lol Right now I'm more busy with my writing of articles for various places, but I'm also still trying to build up a successful on-line photo business for myself. I was a successfully published photographer from 1980 to 1996 then "things" got in the way and had to stop my work. Only a few years ago I started to get back into the photo business but by then so much had changed, so it was like relearning the new way things work now to market one's photo work. A real inspiration was the book by Ron Engh, called sellphotos.com and if you're thinking along the same lines, since I know you're a photographer I really recommend this book to you. I do have a photo website but I'm hoping to upgrade myself to a better one that will allow me to sell my photos directly to "clients" on-line and where they can download the photo on the site itself. I have heard that medical transcription is a great way to make an income working from home. I would go crazy being on the computer all day typing. I work from home also. I run an inhome daycare. When the kids are napping, I spend time on ciao and some other sites to make a little extra money. The disadvantage of working from home is that you have to figure out your taxes and always end up owing. With my husbands job, we decided to have extra taken out to cover the income I am making so when it comes to tax time, we don't get hit so hard. [sunshine4]

I don't work from home but I plan to in the future after I retire from my call center job. A friend of mine works at home as a Virtual Receptionist. She reads and responds to e-mails as well as take phone calls. You must have a stable dsl or cable service to be able to join. If you want to find out more check out the site http://www.bestjobs.ph [yuna15]

i'm not that much older then you, but because of circumstances i had to find something to do from home. i've tried most of those work at home things where you get people to sign up. don't do those. like the person said, if you have to pay, then its not worth it. you can try different things, i'd say look around and see what there is to offer. but i do suggest you do something you enjoy. i didn't like what i was doing and i felt i was annoying everyone. for me, i started something on my own. web designing. its something easily done from home and majority of the advertising is on the internet. i'm a HS graduate so of course i don't have much experience. its something thats in demand and something that i like. right now i'm still starting and not even making enough to report to the government yet, but its still growing and working. but thats just me because i've tried other things and it just doesn't work for me. i don't know if it will work for you, but it doesn't hurt to try. good luck! I work at home with ptc, paid to read email sites. I also do a site called ciao where I write reviews for movies, television shows, books, video games, or products that I use. You earn $1 for each review that you write, the payout is $5 by paypal, I joined last week and have already earned $6.15. I have many ptr, ptc, paid survey sites on my profile, take a look at my profile. I really don't have a career, I just earn pocket change working from home. I wish you the best of luck in finding work at home jobs. [carebears]

Yes i try to but i haven't made much. Its very hard working of the internet. there are many scams which you have to be carefully of. I am sti8ll searching for that magic formula for earning money. [nitesh512]

I am 23 and I do work from home. I've had plenty of jobs outside of this place, but after having my daughter, I had to stay home and take care of things. There are a lot of legitimate WAH (work at home) jobs. So what do I do? I'm a music promoter. Underground musicians contact me if they need a little extra boost in getting their music heard. I do everything from fliers to contacting radio stations and things like that. It's a pretty good job- except when you meet arrogant people. But, that comes with any job. The best advice I could give to you is just do your research. See what other people are talking about. Go to other forums/boards and see which ones might work for you. [IrishRose23]

Yes, I have been working from home for more than a year now. I work as a Virtual Assistant. You might want to check out Craiglist for job openings just please be very careful it is not a SCAM. [sweettezil]

I think the best place to start with if you want to work from home is by signing up for affiliate programs on the Internet. However, its better to find yourself a full time job first and supplement your income through online jobs. You can lead a stable financial life this way as there are a lot of scams online. Look up for some part- time course that interest you maybe. [ionsquare]

Hello there! I don't work at home currently, I'm still a student. BUT, my father is working from home. At least, he calls his room 'his office'. In my father's case, he's working in a really small company. There is only 2 employees, him and some other person in a different state all together. He works as a sales engineer, basically he is doing a sort marketing/sales work. Though, he does leave house often to meet up with his customer to have a chat and a meal. Oh, let's not forget, he travels a lot, he needs to cover the whole country all by himself (actually, there is his other colleague in the other state). He keeps in contact with the main office in another country through web conferencing. Even the main office is made up of less than 10 person, but their revenue is really really huge. Though I personally believe its good to work in a office condition where you get to meet other people in person and also to be able to work together with others. It gives a better experience in life. Hope what I shared helps. Cheers. [kenchihi]

let me give you a brief background about me. i am already 28 years old and i just got married last january. i've resigned from my job last march and after that, i discovered that i am pregnant. now i am already 36 weeks pregnant. well, i've gotten to work for almost years as an accountant (with four different companies) and i've learned alot from my experiences. i've matured through those years. now, i've got a homebased job since i cannot afford to work for a private company because of my condition. i guess here in the philippines, people at your age are already working since most of us graduate at the age of 20. with regard to working from home, i don't agree that you should try that. i think you should look for a more specific job. something related to your educational background or to your skills. it is better to work for a private company because you will learn new things. [maroseqf]

I donīt work full-time from home,as I have an ordinary work. But I do some work from home, and this include writing for some sites. [ennasus59]

Hi, I do work from home. it's fun! you can do some household chores while doing your job. here is the site, that i think might help you find online job. check out this website: http://www.getafreelancer.com [dvirtualist]

I see that you've gotten a lot of responses, and although I haven't read through them, I'm sure many of them are for the PTC sites or something like that... Probably mostly just the "normal" internet stuff. I'm sure that's not what you are looking for. I actually do have a job that I can do from home, but right now I choose not to. I'm a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and I work for a small local firm. What's great about working for someone else is that I don't have to go out and hunt down my clients, or harrass them to get paid! My boss does all that - well, I do get some clients, but not that many right now. And it's very comforting to know that I get a paycheck every 2 weeks, wether he recieves the money for the work or not. My goal is to either buy the firm from him, or start my own practice out of my home. There are quite a few professions like that. I do have a part-time business that I run out of my home that's totally unrelated to my profession. It's great, flexible and again, I get a check every month! You can find a link to that on my profile page - even though it says it's for Mommies, anyone can really do it. I do know some people that have done medical billing and transcribing from home. This is becoming harder and harder to get into for a few reasons. The Medicare and HIPPA guidelines have made it a bit harder for doctors to sub this out. Also, the software is getting cheaper so the doctors are able to bring this aspect back in-house with less cost. There was also a huge flood into this field a while back so it's harder to get into than it was before. You should pick a profession based on what you like to do - I like numbers and helping people. Good luck! [reinydawn]

I work but also do work at home programs, i've been making money on ptc and survey websites you can view my profile there is a link to my blog with payment proofs, i found it pays good when you get referrals same with mylot if you get referrals your money increases, i graduated with an associates degree in health care management with medical transcription included and i have a hard time finding jobs for it online, most of them are scams that just ask for money, same with data entry i paid approx 20.00 for information on data entry and some woman sent me information telling me to send the email out just like she did to get people to send me money which is a total scam that i don't believe in, i heard assembling products at home is a scam and i have searched the better business beauru to see which ones were and found alot of complaints but i signed up for valeries hattery i just received the pkg the other day i think i might try that one i checked them on the website and no complaints it seems legit so hopefully i will get lucky, my advice to you is do something you enjoy something that is worth your time and do research if something is too good to be true most likely it is, i have wasted some money on programs i never use, good luck, if you want any help just contact me i like to help people! [fit4lifein07]

My very good friend works from home; he's a freelancer. He does programming, and he earns just as he had worked for some company. The good part of it is that your nobody's slave, the bad part is that you need to find work for yourself alone. [neuronic]
