"It's a kind of spiritual robbery that makes people think they can be happy without money"
This means that some people are proud to claim they don't need money to be happy. But they are not really happy, they are only trying to pretend that they are.Actually, they have no ability to make money themselves and are too poor to recognize how money helps make people happy. Having said this, do you think a person can really be happy without money?

I think you can be happy without having a lot of EXTRA money. But, everyone needs money to survive. My mortgage company for one would not be to happy if I couldn't pay my house payment(neither would I). If I were rich, I would be happy as I could do a lot more things. But, there are a lot of rich people who are miserable. I think the major part of ones happiness comes from within themselves. [workingmom50]
That's true! Happiness is a state of mind. [ilovechocolate]
When I was growing up my family did not have a lot of extra money and my parents busted their backs to make sure they took care of their family. I am now part owner of a successful company and I feel no different than I did growing up. I do make sure my family is taken care of and I actually do lots of things I was not able to do as a child but I do not hold that against my parents. My dad worked his butt off until the day he passed away and I could never thank him enough for the life that he gave his family. I may have the money that we did not growing up but I look up to my parents for doing everything they could to make sure their kids were always taken care of. I do believe someone could find happiness without money and I have met some people who have showed me that money can't bu you happiness [WiseReptiles]
I totally agree with what you say but I do think that a little amount of money now is a major push for a school student like me! I am now 14 and by the time I am 21, I would have earned enough to get myself a PSP!wub But some people really do survive without anyhting in hand! They live peacefully with just a little amount of money in hand!whistle [kar295rocks]
i think you need money to survive these days. we have very little money (hubby is not working at the moment and is getting unemployment) but we go to the library and shop at thrift stores which makes life fun. you can be happy with very little money, i think! it is better to be the boss of your money rather than let money rule you! [cher913]
We all need money to live, how we can survive if there is no money to buy all the useful purposes to lead the life of this. Whatever we do, of course, we always try hard to get it. Which must be all that we get from struggle of our contemporary life. Without money they cannot be happy, if you see people happy without money perhaps they stress because they do not have anything for them grasp. [May2k8]
Yes we need money to survive, because with the economy, the way it is, and there are no jobs, and money is hard to come by now,so no I would say you can not be happy, with out money you need money to, buy food, to pay for your water,to pay rent, to pay for you heat yes we need money.happy [notlistening2]
i also could not agree that you can be happy without money, especially these days that we could not even move from places without money. you can't go to market without money. you can't eat without it. will you go to the market or a restaurant and you will tell them, i am hungry and i want to eat but i have no money. even beggars will be so happy to receive money from other people. they will get mad at you if they approach you and will tell them that you have no money to give them. and you, if you have nothing to give them, will pity them and that somtimes makes me sad if i have no money. i could not help them. and i will be so happy if i have a lot of money and i can help those poor people. [neildc]
The money don't mean everything; but everything need money :p [nawanta]
The way things cost nowadays, it would be hard to be happy without any at all. Now, if I could just get out of debt, I would be very happy, but that will be had to do in this economy. I am not out become a millionaire, I just want enough to be able to pay off my bills and have a little extra to live on, and that is why I am trying to make a little extra money on the internt. Right now, it isn't much, but in time it will seem like a lot, and it does add up in the end. That right now is my goal to get out of debt and be able to live comfortabley without having to worry about whre my next dime will come from. i sure can dream though, can't I? lol Good luck to you, and happy mylotting. happy [rosekiss]
Yes he/she can! It is really true that there are things in this world that money cannot buy. I have a job, but then, I am happy though my mom gets all my salary, and leaving 20 pesos to me. Just for the fare. She is happy, so does I. [anjohanna]
I think it means that people don't need a lot of money in order to be happy. I mean I don't have much money at all. I work to put a roof over my head and pay bills and support my daughter. I don't have money for extras at all. Of course I would love to have a little more money and live on a higher rung of life but I'm not unhappy. I know people that have a lot of money that still are not happy. [sid556]
I think there are really people who are just contented with what they have and money isn't their problem at all. But I am not one of them. I can't say that I couldn't be happy if I don't have any money but I think money is part in my ambition in life and that is to help my family. I want them to live a good life especially my parents. I am willing to sacrifice and everything just to make them happy. I don't know if it's really possible. But I hope the quote "Nothing is Impossible" is really true. [joannaleed]
Today's scenario it is very tough to survive without money. Frome needle to aeroplane, single peice of bread to italian pizza only anly attained by after exchange of money. Money is super natural power in this world. Humanity bent their knees infront of money, Father killed their children for money, Mother's compassion, soft heartness sold for money. Money is the basic need of human. People, people of the world and money are made for each other. [deependra_gem]
I know I can be happy without money. Money is the route of all evil. We as individals don't need alot of money to survive. However, its the greed and the material possesions that people seem to trive for. Happiness comes from within. A new car will make you happy in the moment but its not going to sustain your happiness forever. Money works the same way and remember we don't take it with us. Nothing, not our possessions nor our money. It all goes to either family or bill collectors and our funerals. I believe the less we have the happier we can be deep within our souls. [lelin1123]
I think it all depends on person's attitude. With a little money mappy hard to be doppy. And wealth doesnt mean happy. In my opinion, healthy life with just enough money is the happiest.Sometimes a large wealth may bring trouble. [saritchun]
Sorry, Don't agree if you because I believe bill Gatess use to spend more sleep less nights than a Cab Driver. [mutpal74]
Nice question ilovechocolate. You know what? Most religious people(i'm saying most, not all) will say that they can be happy without money. They believe that God wants them to stay poor to make their hearts stay with the poor. Actually, God wants us all to be rich but He is giving us the freedom to choose. We can choose to either accept the money God is giving to us or not. I believe I or all of us can be happier if we have lots of money. But it depends on how we are going to use it. Imagine if you have too much money and you share it with those people in need - I bet you would not be able to explain how much happiness you will feel. Being wealthy is good. Money can make us happy - but only if we learn how to share it to others. [overclocked]
If happiness means that you are okay with not paying your bills, putting food on the table, not being able to pay for your children's college education and stressing out constantly over how you will meet expenses, then who needs it. Happiness without money means, to me, that the happy person is draining someone else's finances and possibly criticizing them because they have money behind their backs. [ajmclaw]
So very like my own condition. Sometimes I am myself confused as to whether I am really happy with the paltry sum that I have at my disposal or is it just an illusion that I hang on to only coz I know that there is no way I can make more money legally or coz I really have no idea what it feels like to have pots of money and the complete liberty to use it. I call it the sour grapes syndrome, though it does help to soothe distraught minds and get a hold on one's emotions of jealousy. But yes, there are people who are happy without much money…I think they have learnt to compromise and accept their situation and handle it maturely. Only saints are completely happy without any money at all…but then they are happy without any material possessions whatsoever. [sudiptacallingu]
It depends...but going by the current scenario, its just not possible... [tskmjk55]
i think yes... not without money may be some money for which u need to live for the three basic needs.. of course food, clothing and shelter... they also sometimes pertend to be happy and contented and boast.. people really boast... according to the present world i think ppl can't live happily without money.. [thunderbala]
You can really be happy even if you don't have money. You are right that most of the people that tend to say that they don't need money to be happy are people who are poor and haven't experienced having a lot in their wallets. We should be envious of them. Why? Because they don't have a problem except to survive. They don't have to think where to spend their money. There is one Arabian proverb that I would never forget, Money Lover is a Person/Human hater. When economic crisis had engulfed the world many people who have embraced money as their happiness and lost them committed suicide. Most of them are very wealthy people. They couldn't stand to lose money in their lives. Money can buy you material things but can it buy love? Can it buy true friendship? (I put true because you can buy friendship, people tend to be good to you when you have so much in your life but when everything disappears, those people will be gone faster than a speeding bullet train) Can it buy family? True Happiness? Material things, you need them to be comfortable in life, temporary happiness that is. Because after all been said and done, you cannot talk to your new laptop or make love to your new shoes and so on... The main key here is what is really the definition of happiness. It could vary to every person. Happiness is not measured of how much you have in your wallet or how comfortable you are in your life, its how you lived your life. There is no wrong or right response in this topic. Its how people perceive happiness and this is how I see mine. Did God put price tags on his creation? [freymind]
there are some people that are happy with out money. although it is hard to see many people like that around. it is hard to survive without money. although for some people if they are generous enough and kind enough then if they were ever to become poor or anything like that then they might have alot of other people that they know will help them out when they need help. so really money is not everything.
