How many jobs have you been through in your life so far? Did you feel you've been through too many, just enough, not enough? Why did you go through so many, or so little? Was it not the type of job you were looking for? Did you feel there was a better job out there? Did you get fired? lol :P
What were your reasons!

I am a 22 year old college student and I will tell you my employment history: I have had at least seven jobs, two of which are/were research positions at my university. Additionally, I used to telemarket (it was my first job, don't hate me! I needed money!) I have had two different jobs in factories, but I didn't do factory work, I instead did office work for the factory. Those were always nice jobs because they require minimal thinking and I made pretty good money. I am currently tutoring Organic Chemistry at my university, but will not be doing that much longer. Instead I will teach introductory biology again... this has been my favorite job though. I am actually looking for employment for the summer. I will be going to medical school in the fall and need to make as much money as possible in the mean time. Some of your questions don't really apply. I have simply been trying to get as much income as possible to save up for my real goal: to be a doctor. So, I guess you could say that I haven't found the job I was looking for. I changed jobs because I needed income that went well with my crazy schedule! My true calling as an undergraduate is this teaching gig. I really enjoy it and I feel like I am really doing well with that, and have had positive feedback from my students. I have luckily never been fired! So, that makes me happy... I am a hard worker and very personable! [lather4osu]
I had four different types of jobs that are totally unrelated... but i never got fired... i resigned in most of them... and had one until the end of the contract but i opted not to renew... and now... i was suppose to be laid off... but my boss changed her mind... there are a lot of better jobs out there with better pay... but none of them would give me the freedon that i am enjoying right now... life flexible hours... and use of the internet... [aseretdd]
I have been through several but never really counted them. I changed jobs due to making more money, being drove nuts in the workplace or moving to a new location. I also worked several because some wer full time and some were part time second jobs also. Here are some of the places I have worked at. Squire Boone Caverns--3 years---left to make more money. Beach Mold and Tool-3 months--left there to take cre of my step-dad because he had a brainstem hemorage and a stroke that left him paralyized. Silvercrest Child Development Center-3 years---left there due to being drove nuts in the workplace and we moved away. Jasper Engines and Transmissions--3 years--- left there due to being drove nuts in the workplace. Walmart-part-time in the snack bar as an second job. Green Valley nursing home- worked there part-time to make more money as a second job. "Hotel" part-time as a second job H&R Block - part-time as a second job Carefree Food Mart- Full time for a replacement job Blue river Services-- full time Housekeeping- full time Babysitting-- full time Working Online--- full time Those are just some that I can think of right now. I have always worked somehow to make money but I mainly earn from home now. [stephcjh]
So far I had three jobs, my first job was doing custodian work as a summer job, my 2nd one was working in an office, filing paper and my 3rd one was filing photos in a small business that was involved in Agriculture and they would have photographer taking photos of buildings. I had these jobs when I was in high school. They really didn't last long because my lst was a summer job like I mention before the 2nd I guess I was fired I don't know why to be honest and the 3rd I quit because I wanted a better job and I got tired of doing the same thing over and over again, so now I'm unemployed looking for work. [sweetangel88]
At present, I'm with a financial institution for the third time. But on summer vacations during my college days, I already tried working as a student assistant in the school I've been where I studied during high school. If this counts, then so far, I had four jobs including my present employment. Anyway, I worked for five years as an assistant account officer in a savings bank. I would have stayed there longer if it not for the unstable condition of the bank then. To cut a long story short, we had an early retirement program or retrenchment (in other terms). We were offerred two months of pay per year of service. With this incident, I began to think of our situation and my career. After careful thought, I decided to look for a vacancy & apply for a job with the local government. I was civil service eligible already at that time; but it was still hard to get a job with them because I was aiming for a position in the regional government office and regional bureau of internal revenue. While doing so, I engaged myself in a small scale business using the money I received from my previous job. After almost half a year of trying to no avail, I finally decided to apply again in a private company. I got a job in a savings bank again. But this time, I only stayed there for a year. Not for pure discontentment; but mainly because during my stay in my second job, I got married and my husband and I decided that I resign from work and have a time off so that we could have our first baby. After almost a year of waiting and trying, our resources were dwindling. I suggested to my husband that I return to work again which he, in return, conformed to it. And so, I'm here in my third job already. [mykmari_08]
it is my second job. I have a total experience of 3.5 years. i was with my first company for 1.5 years. Now also I think I should change company as well as I am not happy here. [subha12]
I couldn't tell you. I don't even want to try to count. I think that I have been through way too many! Quite honestly I think there are 2 reasons for this. First is that people are starting to work younger and youner, just to have money and are just doing whatever...This is suppose to (in theory) help your work ethic but in my experience you just are mature enough yet and move from job to job whenever you are bored, unhappy, or don't get your way. For me, I changed jobs twice because I left a job for medical reasons and it wasnt there for me to return to when I was ready to return. Also because I kindof know what I want to "do" and haven't been able to do it yet so the jobs I get are just to get by not something that I loved or even liked. [luvingmygirls]
I'm 22 years old and this is my employment history: 1. Student Assistant at a Pre-school (lasted two months. My boss was a dirty old man who tried to...well, you know what comes next) 2. Service Crew at Jollibee (the contract was five months and I finished it. It was a very enjoyable one for me because I hosted birthday partiesand other activities for kids like art workshops.) 4. Service crew at Jollibee again (In a different Jollibee store, same position, same length of service) 5. English Tutor (For two months I had classes with a Korean student) 6. Sales Rep for Dell Computers (lasted two months, and I didn't know much about computers anyway. I quit) 7. Receptionist/Server at a restaurant. (lasted one month. I quit.It wasn't quite as fun as Jollibee.) 8. Marketing Officer for a company that sells books.(lasted one week haha!I was assigned to some far-ff place where I had to drink tap water, and I got sick. Was sent back to Manila.) 9. Call Center Agent for HSBC bank (lasted one day!!!!I wasn't able to get up the next day---my shift was 3 am----and I was told to wait for further instructions) 10. Call Center Agent for Citibank Australia (lasted 2 months. It also bored me. I quit.) 11. Online English Tutor (since July 2006--present. I love this job sooo much!) 3. [katcarneo]
4 ,,,,,,,,,,, plus all the babysitting, LOL !! [deepti15]
five jobs. :P I don't think I've been through too many, perhaps because I have not found the type of job I've been looking for. well, actually current one is the closest to the type, however, the company's policy and the salary are not so much promising for the future (grinning). LOL. I'm still looking for another better job out there. :P and thanks goodness, so far I never got fired, I am the one that resigned first. :P [bongkarpasang]
When I had finished studying in 1984 I first had some smaller jobs where I knew in advance how long I am employed there, some days, weeks or months. Then I got my first real longterm job as a librarian was on a maternity leave and did not come back to work so soon. I spent 2 years or so with the company, but then they were restructuring and I had to go. Then I worked for a Christian organization helping in third world countries. I was responsible for a lot of paparwork back then but after two years they restructured as well. I did a retraining as a banker then which took me two years, was 5 months without a job and then 15 years ago started the job I am having now. I work for workers compensation and am amazed about the time I have spent in this one job so far. [book1962]
So far, I only been through two jobs in my life. My first job lasted 10 months. I didn't like how the way the team is managed so I left for its rival company. Up until now, I am still working in the same company and I never felt it was the wrong thing to do. I am promoted now as a member of our IT team. [vhayste]
I would have to break this into to sections, LouieWpHs04. Whilst in high school and college I had many jobs. I don't know if I could remember all of them. Since graduating college, I have held two jobs. I enjoyed both of them for different reasons, mostly because of the amount of freedom they afforded me. [Transdisc]
I've had many jobs. Too many to count. LOL One of the reasons why I had so many was the pay. When I was younger I would quit a job if I didn't like it and have another by the end of the day. If most jobs pay the same you might as well try a few out to see if you like them. Usually I am bored with a job within 2 weeks. I was assistant manager of a retail store. The 1st day I took notes on everything. The 2nd day the manager was like "Where are your notes?" I said "I don't need them." I didn't. This scared a lot of the supervisors that I have had. THey think I am going to take their job. When they don't realize that I could care less about mine let alone theirs. LOL Businesses do not want to pay very much so if I am not going to make any more I am going to do something that I like. I wanted to do something that I enjoyed and no one was going to pay me what I am worth. So I started my own company. I haven't worked for anyone for 5 years and do not plan on ever working for someone else again unless I want the job. [coolseeds]
I started a landscaping company. I was doing consultation, design, payroll, logging expenses as well as 2nd supervisor. I had to start my own company to make what I was worth. She sold the company to the guy who supervised the crew at the end of the year after I started my company. It was a perfect example of someone not paying their employees enough. She did little of nothing but lived better than I or any of the employees ever will. It wasn't right. I also sell seeds on my website, ebay, loudfrog and some others. Which can take more than 40+ hours per week during the peak of the season. [coolseeds]
Ive been working since I was 14. I have had too many jobs to count. Off the top of my head I would say 10-15 Mostly my family comes first and if the job/hours dont go along with what I need-I'll move on. Right now I have a decent job. Lets me off when nessarry and understands family life. [dangnabit67]
I have had a total of 40 jobs in my life, so far. Sounds like alot , but really they were all pretty good. I was at one for over 17years. it was the best with benifits. This freelance thing that I am doing now is becomming the pits. [leeannmarie]
I am 39 and have been through about 4 different postings although it's mainly been two of my professions: journalism and IT blended with computer graphics. I started off as a journalist rising up to the level of editor of a privately run tabloid, now defunct. Then I moved on into computer graphics and later IT. So, between 1993 and the present, I have only changed about 4 jobs! :) [nickventere]
In my thought, I have many jobs. When I was young I want to be scientist,to study the nature. But when I grow up,my thinging job is also changing. Now I want a job which can use my knowledge as well as possible, and I can learning some useful knowledge when I worked in the job. [zhangqweqaz]
I am 31 and I have had 2 jobs. I got really lucky and got hired by a very good company that pays well and have been there 10 years. I am on a family leave now for 6 months because I had a baby. I read an article recently that most people will change jobs 5-6 times throughout their working years. [lala766]
I am glad to say i never got fired from a job.I have had about five jobs in the past27 years.I guess thats not bad.I was five years in a dead end job, then four years in another as i moved to england. Then i worked a year in another dead end job and gave up work to have children. Now i am my own boss and intend to keep it that way. [superbren]

Since I was in college, I've had 7 jobs. I've been working for 14 years already and most of those times are spent in the travel industry. I've had spent 8 years for a single company though, but I have to quit for my newborn baby. Now I'm back to work, still in the same industry but another company. [piesmeralda]
Lol, not I never got fired from a job, because well I kinda never really had one. Well I did have one, but it was an owa school job. What was good about that job is that I got good grades and money at the same time. I have been looking for a job lately, but no luck. I am right now doing a lot of tyeing on here and clicking on the sites I am a member of to try to make a lot of money fast. But I am not doing to good, because I don't have have referrals. In case you want to become my referral or you just want to see all the sites I am a member of feel free to check out my blog. The link is on my profile. [vamp6x6x6x]
I got seven different jobs before I finally decided to stop working and settle down. But right now I am manning my own business. Just good enough for me to have other fields. [izathewzia]
I have never been fired, I have often worked two jobs at a time. Primary job, wife and mom.Waitress, clerical employee at a council Boy Scouts of America clerical assistant. I have owned a home daycare, driven school bus, worked as school custodian. I have been a paraeducator, residential support staff, nursing home Personal Care attendant, nursing home housekeeping, certified nursing assistant, certified Medication aid, social services designee, activities assistant. I have worked at Wal Mart, in receiving, in a department, as a cashier. I have worked in fast food. I have worked as contract labor as a merchandiser and as a product demonstrater. I think that covers almost everything. I still could stand to change jobs, I get bored easily. [GardenGerty]
too many to count...but now i have my dream job after discovering that i could sing....i have been a singer for 11 years now and i love it... [tattylashes]
well i love doing it...i have alot of contacts and i am never short of work....i'd never go back to the jobs i have done before...this is the one for me, and i will be doing this for the rest of my days..thankyou for your reply...x [tattylashes]
I'm onto my fifth job in 10 years. I had two small part time jobs while I was at school. Then in 2000 I started at the job I was at until last year. In November i started working at a veterinary surgery. I was there for four months before I released my boss was a b@st@rd. Now I'm at another veterinery surgery and it's good so far so I hope to be here for at least a year! I get bored easily though ad I like to do different things. [coffeeshot]
Ive had six jobs, and they've all been pretty dismal. I was a lifeguard once at a Six Flags, which was entertaining, but exhausting. I've never been fired, and my employers are always surprised when I quit. I'm a good worker, but I get tired of having the same job after only a few months. [Haydogsup]
I tend to stick to jobs that I like and even those that I don't so much. My first job was with dunkin donuts and I worked there all thru high school...hated every minute of it. When I graduated, I went to work for an insurance company where I stayed for 12 years. I then did alot of odd jobs and ended up working at a convenience store where I've been for "'''gulp''''''14 years. [sid556]
I have 2 jobs in my life. First i'm work at restaurant near my house. At that time i'm waiting my exam school result to futher study. I'm there only 3 month. After that i futher study for Diploma. After finished my Diploma, i've got offer as secretary. Now i work almost 3years. I thinks this is better for me because nowaday, fresh graduated really hard to find a jobs. I really happy with my work now. [edaabby]
i've been to 7 jobs. Too many all of them are short term, contrctual, dead-end. Yes, i got fired, I was "laid off" but I know that's because of my attendance. I'm so bored by my job and at that time I was suffering from depression so I can't focus, but i was still able to get incentives because of my output performance, and I'm not a chatter in work, I do purely work, except for attendance and tardiness on coming to work. After that job, I find it hard to get another and the rest that I got are not the ones I wanted, so until now, I never settled on a job I want. [crisesand]
I always had crazy jobs. And they were just that, a job not a career. I've never had to work since I married since my husband does well and has a business. I raised 3 kids and that kept me busy enough. I've had several part time jobs over the years and most were no brainers. I worked at a bowling alley for awhile, dry cleaners, doctor's office and now at a sporting complex, Golf and ice skating. I generally left because I was needed at home or the pay was not good. A good raise wasn't in the bosses vocabulary which forced me to leave a couple of the jobs. Wasn't going to work for zip. [carolbee]
