How Many Jobs Have You Had In Your Lifetime So Far

happy Hello friends. Most of us work in several or many different places by the time we become a certain age. I have worked as a baby-sitter, a sales person, an IBM office worker, a bookkeeper, an editor, a volunteer, an artist, and a writer. How many different jobs have you had, and what were they? Thank you for any and all responses... Karen

Wow, I didn't realize how many jobs I have had until I started counting them on my fingers. It's probably close to twenty. I've worked for companies, run my own businesses, and everything in between. It sure has been an adventure. So here goes: Farm help, Encyclopedia Sales, Switchboard Operator, Office Manager, Keypuncher, Bookkeeper, Arcade Attendant, House Cleaner, Day Care Provider, Grocery Cashier, Writer, Organizer, Interior Decorator, Teacher, Seamstress, Library Assistant, Medical Transcriptionist, Fund Raiser, Patient Advocate, Activity Director, Administrative Assistant, and Artist. There may be more but this is the list I could easily come up with. [sysdexlicwriter]
Hi Sys...I think many of us will be surprised when we stop and really add up how many different things we have worked at in our lifetime. It does make for a lot of well-rounded experience! You have done many things :) Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Ohh, ok...I thought it might have something to do with sharpening things lol! [PeacefulWmn9]

You seem to be good at many things. I worked as an Industrial engineer, project engineer and sales engineer. After that I stopped working for others and on my own till now. [vijayanths]
Hi Vijay. Many people get their experience working for others and then at some point, venture out and begin their very own business. Congratulations on having achieved that. Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Well my first job was working for a supermarket where I was in charge of the Beers, wine & Spirits department. I stayed with the supermarket for a few years basically working through most of the departments ending up in the butchery department where I gained qualifications in both butchery and fish mongery. When I left the supermarket I got a job in IT at an insurance company and went from being a systems programmer to heading up the web development department. My next job carried on in web development where I worked for an online retailer as the web manager which then turned into being general manager for the business. Then another change happened and I went on to be a warehouse manager for a company who supplied commercial kitchen equipment. Those were the main jobs but in between I also turned my hand to landscape Gardening to make ends meet as well as doing freelance web development. So I've done a few varied jobs in my time but now due to ill health I am no longer in employment so who knows where my career will go next or when. But although some of the jobs weren't great they definitely gave me a wide experience in many aspects of business. [thedailyclick]
Hello friend. That is a wide variety of jobs. I am sorry you are in ill health, but who knows yet what you may find next to do? Whatever it is, I wish you all success. Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Hi PeacefulWmn, I started out as an accounting staff in a German company based in my country, then I thought of career pathing, and having finished Psychology, I decided to have a career shift from accounting to Human Resources. I got employed as Personnel Assistant in a bank. Then I transferred to an insurance company as an admin staff, and after a year, I was transferred to human resources dept. of the same company as human resources assistant. I stayed for 9 years, and rose from the ranks - from assistant to manager, until the company closed. I had put up my own business, but still went back to the corporate world, I joined a manpower/staffing agency as hr manager, and stayed for 2 yrs, which I left to visit my mother in another country for a prolonged period. When I went back, I found my current job as the head of hr in a health care company. Whew!!! that was long LOL. [doryvien]
Dory, I've wondered these things...my fingers are crossed, right along with yours. [PeacefulWmn9]

Hi PeacefulWmn,I was a fresher then when I landed a job in a construction firm, for over 11 years in same company I was assigned on various departments starting as an administrative/personnel assistant, then as a purchasing assistant after a year has been assigned as the purchasing department head. With such a good administrative training background I was promoted with greater responsibility to handle the factory yard of the company as an officer in charge. It was the peak of my career when I married and decided to join my husband abroad. There I found a secretarial job in a small company and currently I am in a multinational pharma company as a secretary to the country manager. My job abroad doesn't sound exciting but compensating i should say! ... Add me in your friend's list please! Thanks. [seanbryan]
Hello :) You have already developed a well-rounded career life, and that is to be applauded! I also admire your courage in going abroad and beginning anew! Thank you for sharing your insights. Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji, Traditionally, we had only one Job and tehre was no change, I was teacher before marriage and never opted for any job and remained house-wife till date. My hubby joined Armed Forces and retired as per age (55 yrs), my elder son joined Govt service and never changed so far after completing 13 yrs (there is no hope for him to change the job). My younger son is Soft-ware engineer and his wife as well and tehy are working for same company since more tahn 12 yrs now and they would never change it. I do not understand basically, why people tend to leave the job. May god bless You and have a great time. [maygodblessu44]
Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji, So our both sons never opted to change their jobs even after a decade now. They feel homely and enjoying their jobs. May God bless You and have great time. [maygodblessu44]

I'm still young but i can definitely say i've had some really cool jobs. I've done tutoring for maybe 3 or so families. Pay is very good, nice part time gig. I've baby site for a family with 2 boys. This job is fuuuuuun! I've been a representative for a non profit group supporting at-risk youth. So i helped to solicit donations. I've worked in a car wash... great tips hehe. I've also taken the entrepreneurial route. I've made a few websites. They're listed on my profile. [draeisme]
Yea I would imagine that Parenting called for a lot of sacrifices. I know my mom talks about them, hehe. In regards to running your own business, what helps you to stick to a schedule or get work done since it is in the comfort of your home? [draeisme]

I have started working from the year 2005 and since then I worked in three different companies, actually I didn't add the jobs which I have done during my college days those are part time jobs (as a Teacher in a Tutorial) If I have to include them then the number will be FIVE. Have to see how many companies are waiting for me out therewink [Ammudoll]
happy Hi Ammudoll. Like you, many of us begin with part time work in our school years, which gives us some experience, which is good. And then, too, these days it is quite common for people to work several, or even many, places until they find the one right for them. Good luck in the work world :)happy Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Yeah! I did change my jobs.I was working for a company called Webhelp in 2005 for 2 years and then moved to another comoany called 247. I was there for just 4 months and then moved to C3i where I worked for a month. Finally I was in GSS for 2 and half years. SO I was working for almost 5 years in 4 different companies. [kalyanichivukula]
happy Hi Kal. I think we do that, what is called "job-hopping," until we find the right work and work place for ourselves. We work our way up :) Best wishes in your career, and thank you for the response! Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Hi Peaceful,Why so many jobs?I thought only the bad guys switch their jobs from one to another like that, and I noticed the differences between the each occupation.you had the skills that is required? As for me I am not very good at anything, it was really hard to go on smoothly with what ever job I did I faced many problems and finally got terminated. I worked as a sales person, accountant, receptionist, shop keeper, and as a shop keeper [Misterwit]
lol Hello Misterwit. LOL, I was busy trying to find my niche? Actually, if I could, I would try out many many jobs, as I love variety! But...it does help to have at least one we keep long term to "sustain" an income. And yes, I've loved learning various skills! Versatility can be a great plus in a relatively simple life. Hm, now you must be good at something. Have you discovered that yet? Or are you still exploring it? Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

Hello Karen. I have altogether worked in three different places, one of which was just a temporary summer camp teaching job for one month in a small town. I worked in my first working place for fourteen years and then I moved to another province and have been working here for twelve years and I love this place, a small town very much. I guess that I will keep on working for quite a long time. I have always been engaged in teaching without switching to another career. I love my teaching career and my lovely students. Good day to you, Karen. [williamjisir]
shocked I could never imagine a world without teachers. What a tragedy that would be! [PeacefulWmn9]

Hey, Well I have only just finished high school about a year ago, and I am still searching for a job. So I have had no jobs in my lifetime so far. After I work for about a year, I might have enough money to fund my College. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!! [EliteUser]
happy Hello to you :) No jobs? Well in one respect, school is a lot like some jobs...and that IS a child and very young adults job :) I wish you luck finding your first professional job, though. Take care and have a great night. Karen [PeacefulWmn9]
