You have a very stable job. Although this job is not really your passion, this is your only source of income. You have saved enough money to start your own business which will require your full time and therefore you have to quit your present job. Would you take the risk of quitting your job and start your business, or would you rather stay in your stable job?

Yes, go for your own business that is important for you. Good luck! [valeria1]
That is pretty direct valeria, I can see you're a risk taker. I bet you'll do good in business. Thanks for your response. [Insung001]
What I think Is its not good quitting a stable job. What I would suggest is, that you start the business that you wish as a part time one first of all, Once you have confidence in yourself that "yes, now I can grow up with this business", then only you should leave your Job. Its not an easy task to do business in this competitive world. However if you really have a strong will power, and full confidence that you can do good in business, you can start with it, still try to keep this job in hand, until you stabilize in your business [onlynaval]
yups! till then you can continue with your Job. [onlynaval]
If the opportunity comes that my business will not affect to my job, then it would be a great decision to stay from my current job. But if it needs my full time to the new business, I think I need to make it sure first that it will work better. Since I have a stable job already, it the business you have mentioned is not tested yet, then I will not go with that. Better, if management allowed, I will file for a two months vacation to test or try the new business if it is working fine, if it is then I would say, bye-bye to my job and welcome the business, having own business is good, since you are the BOSS. Very wise strategy agihcam. Thanks for your response,I appreciate it. [Insung001]
You mentioned that your present job is not your passion, if this business is really what you want, so go for it!... After all life is a risk, and it's always taking chances. Important thing is you'll be happy. :) [riverJ]
Very well said! Thanks for the response riverJ. [Insung001]
my dream is to put up my own business, i guess a computer cafe or restaurant would be fine.. coz if you have a business of course you're the boss, & i can handle my time.. but for the meantime, im still an employee coz i still need a capital to put up my own business.. [jinxky]
Keeping and managing your own time, yes, that's one of the good things in having your own business. Thanks for sharing your thoughts jinxky. happy [Insung001]
Stay with the stable job while opening the new business and then observe the business. If the business works then leave the job. If it doesn't at least you have a fall-back, you still have a job, but I guess during those time when you are juggling both job and business, you will really have to work extra hours. [karagala]
For me it depends. May be if I am full with my job or I say I had enough to be an employee and I have saved so much that whatever happens to my future business I would still have money to finance my family, may be I would risk taking a business of my own. Who knows it would be successful and not to mention that I would be my own boss, lol. Happy mylotting! [bestre]
Well a Stable job job or not...once you dont enjoy what you do most of your day.I dont think its any good to continue. But easier said than done..quitting a stable job is quite a difficult decision to make...Iam literally hung in between what i Like to do and what iam doing, which i dont really like doing...May be I have to go for my passion in the next few weeks...Its quite tiring to be in a job I dont like. [elsoft12]
if you are in a job but your passion is business then one day you must have to start your own business. but the thing which we have to all remember that before starting any kind of business we must have enough and proper knowledge about that business. sometimes people start their own business in a hurry and left their stable jobs which makes them to regret after. A stable job can give you the base to live your life easily if you want to start your own business too then for some time run both together. i know it will need a lot of hard work but for getting something more we all have to do hard work. [Valiantdude]
Definately a business has more weight that business as a business can only generate new jobs for others, so business is the source of job. In your case as you have a stable job also seems attractive. I would suggest to check your liabilities like your wife, kids, their schooling. Keep money in reserve to them for atleast 6 months and then try business. Always keep yourself open to come back to job if business does not turn out to be profitable in 1-2 years. [ajayrekha]
hello insung:-) if i have a stable job and enough money to start any own business, then i am very lucky, not many people have both. well i will start my own business but i will not quit my job. i want a business with low capital, easy to manage and yield high profits. i don't think it is wise to leave one's jobif my business is just starting. when the time comes that my business is really doing well , that is the time when i will resign from my full time job and focus on the business. [misshoney]
Hi misshoneyhappy Lucky indeed. Well that's a wise thing to do. But like I said in the post, the condition is that the business requires you to quit your job, It's really a choice. The point I'm trying to raise is that what choice would it be; staying comfortable in the stable job, or taking the risk of doing the business you like and following your passion. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts though.happy I appreciate it. [Insung001]
Nope. I won't quit my job yet even if I get burned out or something. It's a stable job and I'll never know how if my business is going to be successful. It's not enough that I have passion, I must learn first the ropes of business especially marketing a product or the business.Or maybe I can still start a business as part time or will let someone I trust handle it and if it is going well then maybe I'll start thinking if I'll quit my job or not. [jenalforque]
Hello there! I've been there before..In response to that..I would say don't quit your job just as yet..Try to start small with that business..try to find a way to start it by paying other people to do some of the stuff for you until you establish a market following/connections..And only when you are already earning more than what you are paid at your present job, then quit your job..But TEST THE WATER FIRST! Be very careful with your hard-earned savings. We are not getting any younger and it takes time to save enough..especially if that's the only savings you have... [2good4sybill]
If the job is giving salary 30000 dollar per month . Then it is not wise to Leave job now and Jump into Business . First Build Enough Capital .Then start Business . So you can use it Properly and Flourish the Business Properly . Otherwise if Once you are in trouble . Then Everything will be Over . As you atleast require a Year to build your Market or to get your Capital Back . So think about that first then make a Plan . Then go ahead as per that . Taking unnecessary risk is no Intellectuality. [britishidol]
Well, I think you really have to do some serious research on the new business venture you are about to embark on. Will you be providing a service everybody needs, wants, and feel necessary to have at some point in time? Fads come and go, but trends are always around. This was something I myself had to decide when I made my new business venture. No, I didn't have to quit my first job (Hairstylist). I get to have the best of both worlds. well I really wanted to have a business of my own. But if I am with the kind of situation you have mentioned above I would really not take the risk by leaving my job and start a business but I would start my business side by side and when the business does well I can leave the job. I don't like regular jobs from 10-6. I always wanted to have a business of my own and I will work really hard for it to make it successful. [samar12]
Personally, I'd choose a business that can be started even while I am working. e.g. get someone to execute the startup while I am aware of issues e.g. a spouse or another trusted person. Also perhaps, I would only quit the stable job when much of the investment has been recovered. But then, it's only me:) Cheers:) [ruperto]
I think that if you believe and you can prove that your business can and will be sucessfull I would say jump at the chance. Explain it to your employer and they should be happy for you and encourage you to go forward it. Then if something goes wrong you might be able to go back to the job. Good Luck [onlinetomakemoney]
