I have tried transferring a payment amount from my account to a friend and after my payment was received he said that he was charged for receiving that payment he received from me. Im not quite sure if some members here are aware of that new charges that paypal has been doing but im really quite sure that there were really no charges when i made that kind of transfer before.
Are you also aware that paypal already has these charges for free personal paypal to free personal paypal transfers?

yeah they do have charges now even in personal account. and the charge is quite high too. it is really irritating. i can't save money now because of those charges. but what can we do about there is no better payment processor than paypal. [hotsummer]
or maybe they are earning well cause more members are using free account than the other two accounts. so that is why they are charging now those free account. but your explanation is possible reason too. but i am not sure. but other processor usually have free account with no charges too for reason you mentioned. but only now paypal did that after been online for quite a long time now [hotsummer]
If you send money as a gift you won't get charged. [diamania]
If you want to describe what the payment is for you can just use the description box. lol [diamania]
OO Too bad, so how much is the charge actually. Is it in percent ( % ), or it is in fix number. I try transfer to other paypal account, but i never found a charge before, so im sure this is new. I dont really do much transfer, the only thing i use with my paypal is to recieve payment from ptc and other staff in the net, then withdraw it my bank account. [lordcaocao2025]
Oh, so it's just like a premier account? Because my account is premier and the charges are like that. So, what's the difference now with a premier and a personal account? [swirlz]
does this apply to buying? say I bought a product on ebay~ and I want to pay the bill through paypal do I get charged for that as well? [127dayx]
I have not tried that yet but i think some companies also have their agreement that paypal would not do charges for any payment to their account. But if you would be paying for your purchase to another free paypal account then the the charges would be made to the seller. But i think the problem there is if the seller would agree shipping your order if you would be letting him pay for the charges. I think because of this paypal would have a much lesser transactions as compared to before when it was all still for free. [nrtan2000]
paypal recently started charging for transfer of money from free personal accounts as well, this is really frustrating for small time earners like ourselves but since we don't have any better option so we have to pay them this fee. Even the fees charges are so high but nothing much can be done about it. [niitesh]
Yes if you would be cashing out $1 from your earnings to your paypal account or paying it to someone then i think using the formula on their chrages above would make your charge $0.33 making your net receipt to your account $0.67. And imagine if you would be sending someone USD0.30 you would be charged USD0.31 meaning you wont even receive anything at all and at the same time you would owe paypal USD0.01. I have never tried this yet but using their computation for charges would yield this answer.. So i guess it would be better not sending anything lesse than USD0.30 because you would just be wasting your money and effort. [nrtan2000]
I don't know if this is a new thing or not. A friend of mine sells Tastefully Simple products and because she lives far away from me, the only way for me to pay for an order is to send her the money via paypal. We've been doing that for the past two years and every time I send money to her, there has always been a charge for doing so. It would be wonderful if there was a way to transfer money to another person that was free, but anything that involves the internet or a wire requires money that I know if. If anyone knows of a free avenue, I'd love to know what it is. [dorannmwin]
I checked with the FAQ section of Alertpay and I saw that transferring money from one account to another is free. You can check it out to be sure :D This is for the case of the Personal Account though. As for those who have Personal Pro Accounts or Business Accounts with Alertpay, they do charge for transfers. [aixshaonline]
Hi! When I signed up in Paypal, I do remember reading in the FAQ section that they do have charges for transferring money from one account to another. I think it's one of the major ways that they can easily earn money from those that open accounts in their site. [aixshaonline]
Yup, same here but i think it was also stated there before that transfers from free paypal account to another free paypal account is for free and i think when i do payments before there were really no charges exept when i make payments to business paypay account. [nrtan2000]
As far as I know, that's 2%. Each time I got my payments fron PTC sites such as neobux, turquads, etc,I was charged 2% of the total transaction amount. So it's charging all the time. [sunny400611]
I think its because you have a business account in paypal. But 2% its already quite alot. Imagine if you would be cashing out $10 they would charge you $2 for that so you would only receive $8. And if you would be cashing out $100 they would be charging you $20 which i think its really quite a lot. If their charges is fixed to 2% i think it would be better cashing out in small amounts rather in big amounts since they would charge you more the higher amount you would be cashing out. But in any ways you wont still be able to save from charges because it would still be the same percentage regardless of the amount you send. [nrtan2000]
That sounds a bad news to me. But I am not aware of such policy change. I think I might have overlooked it somewhere in the past policy change notifications. Yea, it's really frustrating to be charged for transaction from personal to personal account. As long as the percentage is acceptable, I am still fine. After all, paypal's service and credibility is the best few among all the payment processors. For the past 6 months, I do not have any account to account transactions, so, I am not impacted yet for this new change. [cheongyc]
I did notice the charge when I would check my paypal account to see if I receive a payment and there was a fee charge. I sold somethings on ebay about a year ago and when the money was put in my account I was charge a fee then. [happy6162]
I just recently transferred money to my brother's paypal account and there were no charges. The trick to this is to choose the option on the payment page so that there will be no charges. [anne25penn]
I think we need to know what are the hidden charges that paypal levies on fund transfers.Until we know so, these questions will always be asked. I have asked them to download the money into my credit card. They have deducted USD1.99 for that. The money is still with them until they send their code to me. I have yet to receive the code. Did you read the condition that money not taken out from paypal will be returned to MyLot? [gracefuldove]
What do you mean by "money not taken out from paypal will be returned to MyLot?". Which part is it in the Mylot terms? I migh have skipped that one out. I have been leaving my mylot earnings in my paypal because i would like to save it first before i cash out to my bank. I think it would be quite unfair that they would be returning my mylot earning to mylot because i work hard for those earnings and i spend lots of hours here to earn those. Im not quite sure if paypal has the right to add or deduct from my account without my consent. [nrtan2000]
Well i haven't notice that because i had been spending my money in paypal kinda of fast yea . [Sir_bobby88]
Oh that's bad. I haven't tried it. Transferring money would become miserable now. I'll try it now. Can you tell me how much percentage is charged so that i will give it a try. [rajprince2]
The charege is (amount sent X 3.4%) + $0.30USD. Where in if you send $10 and would be charged $0.64. So the total amount to be received would be $9.36 and not USD10. I would try avoiding using my paypal too much from now on, i would just do bank transfers if my transaction is just within our local area to save from charges.. [nrtan2000]
Oohh..that's bad :(. I transferred some money through PayPal to my brother's paypal's account some months ago so I can withdraw my money from paypal through his(he has a verified account), and the thing you mentioned above has not been applied, I guess. It's sad that paypal takes some charges from the recipient. Gosh, I already have difficulties that I cannot withdraw money from paypal to my bank account since I don't have a credit card or a debit card with these 3 last digits as paypal requested (people keep saying that withdrawing money from paypal doesn't require you to have credit/debit card but it doesn't apply to me. They still ask me to verify my account by asking for my credit/debit card number). And now this? Hmmhh...moneybookers certainly is the best for me. [eltobh]
glareHello Nrtan, I have actually switch from Personal too Premiumsad, so now am oblige to pay one dollar per transfer from mylot earnings to my bank account. but that's okay since I have earned big this month. but that earnings disappeared too because of some recent spendings, like skype.sad. but i can still do it. earn something online again next month. [LetranKnight25]
