QUESTION:
How I could possibly double check/edit my Bank Account Information?
[question posted by kent_help2smile]
responses and comments:
I had something similar occur and it was because I had got 2 digits of my bank account number round the wrong way and that caused a problem as the bank said the account didn't exist. If you log into Paypal you can check the information you put is is definitely correct. Also, and I do not know if this applies to your bank and the type of account you have in your country, but here there are certain types of accounts (some savings accounts for examples) where there is not the facility to receive electronic funds.Hope you can resolve the problem happy [sunnysmiles]
STOP! right there. Check that email very carefully. Does it give your first name at the top? Is it from Paypal.com? No ... scrap that, they're getting more clever ... Contact Paypal via an external google link - DON'T click on any links that mail sent you. Go to the page on phishing scams. Send a copy of the mail so the "spoof@" mail address and ask for it to be checked out. It MAY be genuine. But it could be a sophisticated phishing scam to get your bank account details. The link you're given takes you to a fake paypal site that looks like the real one - but isn't. Dead giveaway is the http address at the top, which should be a simple paypal.com address (no lengthy lines of letters and numbers, or dashes like-this)Some of these scammers follow ebay transactions etc - meaning the mail recipient believes the mail is genuine. To check your bank account details, google up paypal and log in. Got to your account and choose edit. A line of options will come up - change bank details being one of them. Re-enter your original info. Paypal is automated - it won't tell you off for repeating yourself! Change your log in password - just in case. And make it VERY different to yourold one. Ditto ebay and anyone you connect your PP account to - eg here. Cos this sure sounds like a phishing scam to me. If it's genuine - well, at least you've been forewarned. I know. I have experience of this (as an old Greek fisherman once said to me as my boiler was about to blow up) Happy MyLotting.wink [jazzsue58]
Thanks for the feedback - rated! I did actually start a discussion on this a while back, detailing my experiences. Here's the link: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2060860.aspx [jazzsue58]
thanks for this discussion.I am facing another problem wherein I received an email from an unknown person ,saying I request money from your paypal account and then after a few days got the same message with cancelled request !! I am worried what if someone removes money from my bank account thru paypal without me knowing about it:( [Prabhalini]
Generally, they work on an assumption most people have PayPal and thus will fall for it. I don't use Paypal for ebay, but many people use it as a trading post, so don't remember every transaction and thus act on mails sent to them. The scammers are hoping for these - so watch out if you do a lot of paypal trading, or get paid by them at lots of different sites. It's actually quite difficult for your PP account to get hacked into, unless you hand them the key ... [jazzsue58]
This possibly could be a case of phishing, in which they take you personal information. beware, dont give out any info. [SangsTurks]
Call your bank and make sure what you have down for your bank information matches what you have typed in for your paypal.. if it is the same then it just may be a glich in paypals system. If so then youll need to speak witha represtenative with paypal so just give them a call and they may beable to help you.. hope you get it all straightend out!! goodluck. [xXxMikesWifeyxXx]
glareIf that would have happened to me, I would tell the sender to "buzz off troll jerk hahahaha"lol. there's no way my email can be wrong, that's all scam, for me i think it's best to change your email address linked to your paypal account. i fear that's even close to hacking your money and account.... [LetranKnight25]
They get email addresses, and work on the assumption the recipient just might have paypal - so many of us do, and you need an email account to have paypal. I know this, because one (who tried to personalise the mail) sent it to "Dear (My False Name As Used in Yahoo Groups)." A very good reason NOT to ever give out your real name to pages that can be accessed by the public, such as profile pages. A false name also easily helps you pick out the scammers. [jazzsue58]
When you get this error it only means that the information you have entered in did not match what the bank has under your information. Thus, we ask that you cotnact your bank for the right bank account information such as the routing number since alot of banks may have different routing numbers for using the bank online. There is no way for you to double check it yourself in terms of the bank account information. You may only try to re-enter the bank account information and if it prompts you the same error again then it only means you will need to go thru a step further such as faxing documents. The best thing is to actually call the customer service hotline to check what is on PayPal' end. [sublime03]
hi kent helpo2smile you probably goofed up on the numbers on your account and if you are off just one digit it will not go through so if you bank on line you can get customer service to give you the correct numbers,I had to do this, or if you dont bank on line call your bank and ask for the correct numbers then you just go back to paypal and type the right ones in and voila you have made your transfer,I had the same problem I was using a blank check and the printer had goofed on one of the numbers so I went to customer service and she typed out the correct numbers which I then sent to paypal and I got my transfer to go through. [Hatley]
https:///wf/f=act_verifyba That right there makes it seem like it's a fake email. [sleblanc17]
I just went to my Paypal account so I could find out the info for you to be able to check and change your bank account information. Go to Paypal and log in there. Go to the Profile button there and there will be a drop down menu. Choose to add or edit your bank account. You will then see your account. You can edit it and see if the information is correct or you can delete it and try again [stephcjh]
give a email to support [borcea]
Most e-mails from PayPal are scams so check it very carefully. Do not click on any link provided by the e-mail. Open up a new window and go directly to your PayPal account and check the information that you provided about the bank. If your information is correct it is probably a scam, and you should contact PayPal direct. If they know your name and it is a scam you had better change your password right away. However there is a small possibility that this e-mail is correct if you have never transferred funds to your bank account before. Just be very careful with this, and I mean very careful. confused [mariposaman]
Haaay, I am really having hard time differentiate scam. phishing and etc [kent_help2smile]
The best thing to do is to go over your bank account info number by number. Make sure you didn't transpose a "4" or an "8." Also, what I do when entering my info is to type it out in the first box, verify it, and then copy and paste it in the second box (the one that always says "confirm account number"). That way you'll know the account number is correct and you'll just paste the exact same thing into the second box and there's no way you can screw it up. Also, just a thought, but make sure you didn't put the wrong account number in, such as the routing number in the account number, and visa versa. It's very easy to get those mixed up. GOOD LUCK! XOXO Busie [busibee]
I will try to check it out.. Thanks for the response and help as well [kent_help2smile]
Whenever you get a message purporting to be from PayPal, the first thing to do is to make sure that it's really from them. There are lots of scammers out there who are trying to get hold of your bank details. Contact PayPal directly (don't click on any links in the email) and check that there really is a problem. If the email is genuine, just check you've put your details in correctly - you might just have mistyped your account number, or you might have tried to link to an account that is not able to accept electronic payments. First of all, forget about phishing. It's just confusing you. After reading your other discussions, I think it's pretty much safe to say that there is no scam or phishing involved with your particular situation. Your particular situation involves two legitimate parties: Union Bank of the Philippines and Paypal. The email you received is legit, otherwise Paypal wouldn't deduct a surcharge from your account. So there's really something wrong with your bank account information that's making a transfer of funds impossible. Two things you need to know about your EON Card. It contains two sets of numbers. The 16-digit number at the middle of your card is your debit card number. You use that when adding a debit/credit card to your Paypal account. Login to your PP account. Go to profile>add/edit credit card and that's where you input the 16-digit number. The 12-digit number in your EON Card, printed under your name, is your Union Bank Savings account number. You use it to add a bank account to your PP account. Login to your PP account, go to profile>add/edit bank account and that's where you input it. The bank code for Union Bank is 010419995. Just complete the rest of the steps and you're good to go. When you withdraw, click withdraw and select the option "withdraw to bank". Enter the amount and just complete the process. Don't worry about your account number having XXX's, that's for your protection in case someone's looking over your shoulder. You should also make sure your EON Card is really active. Go to your UB branch and use it at the ATM, see if it accepts your PIN and you can see your balance. Make sure also that your EON Card is enrolled in UnionBank's online banking portal. Go to UB's website and click on the EON icon and login to your online account. If you've done all these things, you'll be able to successfully transfer funds from PP to your EON Card. PM me if you have any other questions. cool [spoiledbrat802]
